But the life of a Travianer is not always without danger, though it could be carefree - were it not for a lost uncle with a legacy, an ancient village and a mysterious curse. In the role of an inhabitant, the player embarks on an adventurous journey to find out more about the family curse and the epic Travianer world - with trusty companions, including a dog and lots of friends, who assist the player in solving the mystery.
"Travianer offers many ways to play a browser game. Of course there are a lot of elements that you will find in other games," Product Manager Alexa Stockhausen explains, "But the combination is unusual - and that's what makes it attractive."
By contrast to the competition-oriented "Travian", the player learns a trade, sets up a home and shares many activities with other players. In addition, the village coffee-house beckons with enjoyable mini-games; the fittest match their strength in contests in the arena; and hard bargaining takes place in the market square to earn a living. "Travianer will appeal to all those who like to chat or set up their homes, who are active in guilds or who enjoy playing cooperatively. Because the strength of the game is its community," says Alexa Stockhausen.
Travianer has been implemented on the latest AJAX technology. It is free, and can be played right in the browser. Premium functions can be purchased at a charge, if you want to become one of the best and strongest within the Travianer community more quickly. However, all the objectives of the game can be achieved without paying anything.
